As a leader, I struggled with confidence particularly when faced with tough challenges but tended to downplay it telling myself that the self-doubt, stress and anxiety gave me some kind of performance edge.
On the face of it, I had a successful corporate career, had been promoted rapidly with career opportunities coming thick and fast, working internationally and leading large teams. However, with each new opportunity that I accepted, and despite continued success, I had this increasing feeling of somehow being an imposter, feeling not good enough and had nowhere to turn for help.
It was a really challenging part of my career – I wrestled with my self-confidence as I lead teams through periods of large scale redundancies and really felt my confidence get a hit when leading regional leadership teams in competitive matrix organisations.
This led me to become deeply interested in the psychology of high performance and the role that confidence plays.
I launched The Confidence Lab to put Authentic Leadership Confidence in sharp focus and to ensure that organisations are equipping their leaders with the necessary strategies and mindsets, to lead effectively in this rapidly changing world.

Over the past decade, I have worked with hundreds of talented leaders and have learned that just like me, they too struggle with confidence in new and challenging performance situations and are crying out for approaches to think differently and take immediate action.
In examining the leadership development industry, I see that a lot of wasted time and effort is spent dealing with the symptoms of low confidence rather than the cause itself.
This is something I want to address because we’re wasting money on ‘band-aid solutions’ and we’re not leaving leaders with the capabilities to manage their confidence throughout their career.
I specifically created it with one mission in mind – to help talented leaders, reflect, learn and grow, using structured-evidence based systems to strengthen their Authentic Leadership Confidence. Why? Ultimately, so that the leaders of our world are leading with purpose and making a genuine impact.

Working with Rob was an amazing experience! I was a leader that lacked confidence and had self-worth issues.
